Coding Fellowship Bootcamp Student: Ian
We caught up with Coding Fellowship Bootcamp student, Ian, to discuss his background, his career change and his experience of the course so far.
I was working as a print-based Graphic Designer, but wanted to expand my skillset as most of the job adverts I was looking at included some degree of web design/development. I was made redundant around the same time I was looking for a new job, so it seemed the perfect opportunity to learn some new stuff.
Why did you choose Develop Me?
I had thought about doing a part-time HNC/HND course, but I didn’t really want to wait years before qualifying — a bootcamp course seemed ideal and Develop Me was within traveling distance.
How much coding had you done before starting the course?
A tiny bit. I’d done a short evening course in HTML a few years ago, but never really had the opportunity to put it into practice. I’d also just started doing an online video development bootcamp when I applied to Develop Me.
What do you hope to get out of the course?
A decent job!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I think I’d prefer to work in back-end development more than front-end, but I’m not really sure what that might look like in five years. I’d be happy with anything development-related really.
